Capt A MOIZ KHAN

I Capt. A Moiz Khan, a master Mariner who has the distingtion to Captain the Vessel SAFINA-E-HAJJAJ to take the Pakistani Pilgrims to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was the first voyage for the Hajj Pilgrims from Pakistan. After saying good bye to the sea, started my business with establishing a factory in the newly develop Industrial Area at North Karachi. I was one of the first businessmen to establish my business in North Karachi Industrial Area and with the passage of time the North Karachi Industrial Area began to develop and the necessity of a Trade Association was felt to bring the problems of the Industrial Area with the concerned Government Department. With the able assistance of my colleagues, I was able to form an Association in the 1974 but as it was not registered our voice with the concerned Department were no recognized. Hence, efforts were made to get the Association registered and through sheer hard work and sincere efforts were able to register the Association with Director General Trade Organization under Section 3(2) of the Trade Ordinance 2007 by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan, and Islamabad. I am the founder Chairman of the North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry and since its registration in 1994 was the President/Chairman. During my tenure, as President/Chairman, the Development of Infrastructure took place, after the President, I was chosen as Patron-in-Chief, North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry under my able guidance and supervision the Industrial area flourished and Industrialist were at ease in carrying out their production activities. The North Karachi Industrial Area developed into one of the major SME’ in Karachi, with 80% factories are export oriented.

For the development of the infrastructure a development & management Company under the name of North Karachi Industrial Development & Management Company (NKI-DMC) was formed on the basis of private public partnership and the Board of Management was to run the affairs of the company. The purpose of infrastructure Development Company was to rehabilitate and upgrade the existing infrastructure and identify the projects for the future needs. The NKI-DMC registered and commenced its business from May 09, 2006 as limited by guarantee having share capital. Besides the development of infrastructure of the North Karachi Industrial Area, NKI-DMC is working for the safety & security of the industrial zones as well as providing minimum safety requirements to the industries to be prepared to meet any exigencies in future.
